Tata’s May 2025 Sales: Nexon and Punch Contribute Over 60%

Nexon & Punch Shine: 26K+ Units Sold in May 2025, Driving Tata’s 41K+ Domestic Sales
Tata Motors sold 41,557 passenger vehicles in the domestic market in May 2025, marking an 11% decline compared to the 46,700 units sold in the same month last year. This drop led to Tata losing its position as one of India’s top three carmakers, with Hyundai taking the third spot behind Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra.
Despite the overall slowdown, Tata’s sub-4-meter SUV duo—the Punch and Nexon—remained the brand’s biggest performers, contributing over 60% of total sales (more than 26,000 units).
Tata Punch: Steady Performer Despite YoY Dip
The Tata Punch, one of the brand’s most successful models in recent years, sold 13,133 units in May 2025. While this was a 31% drop compared to May 2024 (18,949 units), it still marked a month-on-month increase from 12,496 units in April 2025.
The micro-SUV had its best month in March 2025, with 17,714 units sold, helping Tata finish FY25 on a strong note.
Tata Nexon: Strong Growth Continues
The Indian automotive market witnessed a significant shift in sales dynamics in May 2025, with Tata Motors leading the charge. At the forefront of this success are two of its most popular models: Tata Nexon and Punch.
These models have not only captured a substantial market share but have also contributed over 60% to Tata Motors’ total sales in May 2025. This impressive sales performance underscores the popularity and consumer preference for these vehicles.
The success of Nexon and Punch can be attributed to their innovative designs, robust features, and competitive pricing.
